MIAMI SPICE
THURSDAY AUGUST 1st – SEPTEMBER 30th, 2019

Miami Spice returns August 1st through September 30th for its 18th Consecutive Year. Prix-Fixe deals at some of the area’s finest restaurants for the reduced price of $23.00 for lunch and brunch and $29 for dinner (not including tax and tip)

Spice is designed to encourage visitors and locals to explore new restaurants and visit old favorites by providing discounted three-course meals. The promotion also helps many eateries survive Miami’s summer, when attendance drops in restaurants. This year, more than 215 local restaurants are participating in the program, up from last years 206. Miami Spice includes restaurants in most neighborhoods and cities of Miami-Dade County, such as MIami Beach, Brickell, downtown Miami, Doral, Coral Gables, Little Havana, South Miami, Wynwood, Little Haiti, Sunny Isles Beach and Bal Harbour.

FLORIDA’S BACK-TO-SCHOOL TAX HOLIDAY
FRIDAY AUGUST 2nd – TUESDAY AUGUST 6th, 2019
ENDS @ 11:59 AUGUST 6th

The State of Florida’s popular back to school sales tax “holiday” has begun and ends on Tuesday, August 6th.
Shoppers won’t have to pay state or local taxes on clothing, shoes and certain accessories (not including briefcases or suitcases) selling for $60.00 or less and on school supplies selling for $15.00 or less.
The tax-exempt period runs from Aug. 2 to midnight Aug. 6 and is part of a $121 million package that legislators approved in May. Here’s what’s included in the exemption:

  • School supplies sold for $15 or less, including pens, pencils, erasers, crayons, notebooks, paper, tape, scissors and calculators
  • Personal computers or personal computer-related accessories sold for $1,000 or less, including electronic book readers, laptops, desktops, handhelds, tablets, or tower computers (but excluding cellphones)

Lawmakers also approved a weeklong hurricane sales tax “holiday” from late May to early June. That sales tax exemption included batteries, generators and other disaster preparedness supplies.
